Representing Germany alongside the Federal President is not an office, but it is a task that has been performed by women in an extraordinary way since the very beginning of the Federal Republic.

We tell the story of our country's eventful history from the perspective of our First Ladies. This is 60 years of Germany, contemporary, moving and exciting - between the Cold War and the Capri Sun, rearmament and the World Cup, the death of trees and the fall of the Berlin Wall, private, emotional and, last but not least, entertaining.

Archive footage and interviews with contemporary witnesses and former First Ladies create a vivid picture of contemporary German history.
